For years, I’ve had the privilege of covering the people, organizations, and events that make Santa Clara a great community.

I’ve learned that the best stories aren’t always found in City Council chambers or board meetings. They’re often found where neighbors come together to support one another and good causes. 

And it can happen anywhere. That’s why I’ll be at Fiesta Gigantes this Saturday, August 8, at Mission Rock in San Francisco.

My Wrestling For Charity organization will bring the colorful, high-energy world of Lucha Libre to the waterfront as part of this incredible cultural celebration hosted by the San Francisco Giants in the China Basin area just steps from McCovey Cove.

This is an experience that combines athleticism, storytelling, family entertainment, and community spirit into one unforgettable afternoon.

As someone who has spent years promoting community events, I’ve seen firsthand how professional wrestling can unite people of all ages and backgrounds.

Lucha Libre, in particular, is much more than a sporting event. It is a vibrant tradition rooted in Mexican culture that celebrates heroes, villains, perseverance, and the timeless battle between good and evil. The colorful masks, spectacular aerial maneuvers, and passionate crowd reactions create an atmosphere unlike anything else.

What makes this event even more meaningful is its purpose. Wrestling For Charity, of which I am the Founder and President, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to using professional wrestling as a platform to raise funds and awareness for local organizations and community causes. Every event represents an opportunity to entertain families while giving back to the communities we proudly serve.

Fiesta Gigantes’ Game Day at the Park provides the perfect backdrop for this mission. These events are pre-game extravaganzas celebrating Latino culture through music, food, beverages, art, dance, and community engagement.

Adding live Lucha Libre to the festivities brings another authentic cultural tradition to the celebration while creating memories for children and adults alike.
