Celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday at Books Inc. Santa Clara with a special Read Across America Storytime. A variety of Dr. Seuss books will be read, along with themed activities and crafts. All ages welcome and kooky hats are encouraged.

Bless Me Ultima – A Mexican-American Opera (Special Preview performance)

This sneak preview of Héctor Armienta‘s new opera is based on Rudolfo Anaya‘s epic novel and will receive its West Coast premiere at San Jose’s Mexican Heritage Theater April 20 to 22. Featured performers are Alexandra Sessler, Pedro Ledesma, Nicholas McKee and Paul Dab. The performance will be followed by a discussion with the audience by Armienta.

Agnews Museum Tour: History of Caring and Compassion

10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

This special tour of the Agnews Historic Cemetery & Museum in Santa Clara includes a walking tour of the museum grounds and discussion of the history of the Agnews State Hospital that became the Agnews Developmental Center.

Music @ Noon: World Music Ensemble and New Music Ensemble

12 p.m.
SCU Music Recital Hall, Santa Clara University, 500 El Camino Real

This 50-minute noon performance features visiting and local musicians: from flamenco, to jazz, to singer songwriters.
