The Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation and the Santa Clara County Office of Education produce the Lam Research Heart & Soles Run. The scenic 6K and 10K Courses start at Santa Clara University/Mission Santa Clara and features a loop through Avaya Stadium, home to the San Jose Earthquakes. The event then returns to Santa Clara University where participants can enjoy a post race festival at Santa Clara’s Franklin Square. The course features The Health Trust 6K, San Francisco 49ers 10K and Sutter Health/PAMF Kids Fun Run with dash distances.

California’s Great America opens its 2018 season. Throughout the opening weekend, the theme park celebrates the 25th anniversary of Flight Deck. Special activities throughout the weekend include a free commemorative anniversary dog tags for all riders, Top Gun screening continuously in Theatre Royale all day, a working scale model of Flight Deck on display in the Theatre Royale lobby, Flight Deck-inspired menu items at Pizza Orleans, photo ops with a familiar looking “Naval Aviator”and the Top Gun soundtrack playing in the midways near the ride.
