The Good —The Leg Drop Award:

Santa Clara Unified School District (SCUSD) Trustee Mark Richardson wrote an oped this week. It’s about Assessor Larry Stone losing an assessment appeal to the 49ers. That loss will cut the team’s taxes in half ($240 million over 40 years) and take money mostly from SCUSD.

Richardson wrote:

“Under what circumstances is this acceptable? As a community we are measured by how we treat our children.”

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

Former SCUSD trustee Chris Stampolis is making headlines in Imperial County these days. At their Board of Education meeting in December, Stampolis created drama when he said:

“I’m requesting to speak.”

He was flat on his back on the ground trying to resist a sheriff deputy at the time.
