Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce Doesn’t Have Active Business License Tax

By Robert Haugh

We ran our story about the controversial billboard company All Vision on Tuesday.

They’re demanding a $500,000 payment from the City for work they never did.  $157,500 of their billings are for two lobbyists: Kevin Moore and Ed McGovern.

But we also reported that All Vision doesn’t have an active business license tax. That’s required for all businesses who do work in the City.

All Vision’s license expired last October. Whoops.

After our story, we got a tip from a loyal reader.

NOT The Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce also doesn’t have an active business license tax. It expired last year — 11/30/2019. Double Whoops.

“Not The Chamber” (now renamed to Silicon Valley Central Chamber of Commerce, but no one calls them that) found out a few months ago that an audit discovered they owe the City somewhere between $411,000 to $580,000. Ouch.

Our source says “Not the Chamber” should owe the City $70-$90 for their business license.

So, we are revising the audit for the City.

“Not The Chamber” now owes the City somewhere between $411,070 to $580,090.
