The Good — The Leg Drop Award:
On Tuesday, Mayor Lisa Gillmor, Vice Mayor Raj Chahal, and Councilwoman Kathy Watanabe voted for a plan that would have kept in place the City Council’s June decision for the El Camino Real. It limits heights to 4-story limit for all buildings, 2-story limit for residential, and 3-story limit for mixed-use.
The three Councilmembers listened to Santa Clarans and voted for smart growth.
The Bad — The Jabroni Award:
Unfortunately, four Councilmembers voted to increase height limits that will create shadows in neighborhoods near El Camino. And all four of these councilmembers flip flopped from their votes in June to do it.
The Flip Flop Four are Councilmembers Anthony Becker, Suds Jain, Karen Hardy, and Kevin Park. And their plan means three more years of study. And it’ll cost almost $1 million more.
