Best and Worst of the Week in Santa Clara: The DEI Task Force and the 49er Five

By Robert Haugh

At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, the Task Force on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion tried to make a recommendation that Santa Clarans should continue to elect our Police Chief.

But the 49er Five on the City Council refused to accept it and shut them out.

The Good — The Leg Drop Award:

The DEI Task Force (Chair Neil Datar and Vice Chair Joyce Davis) win the Leg Drop Award this week for making their voices heard.

Thumbs up

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

Councilwoman Karen Hardy made the motion to defer the report and not accept it. She was supported by her colleagues: Anthony Becker, Raj Chahal, Suds Jain, and Kevin Park. They all get the Jabroni award this week.

Thumbs down
