The Santa Clara City Council will hold a special meeting today at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
The agenda focuses on interviews and appointments to fill vacancies on two city commissions: the Cultural Commission and the Parks and Recreation Commission.
- Cultural Commission: One applicant will be interviewed and potentially appointed to serve a partial term ending June 30, 2027. The council will also establish an eligibility list for future vacancies within the next six months.
- Parks and Recreation Commission: One applicant will be interviewed and appointed to serve a full term ending June 30, 2028. An eligibility list will also be established for potential vacancies within the next six months for this commission.
Yesterday, the Council met to make appointments to three other Commissions: Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), Civil Service Commission, and the Board of Library Trustees.

It was a shame and a disgrace that the council chose to push Burt Field out of the Parks and Recreation commission for no good reason at all. For no stated reason at all in fact. Naked political reprisal but too cowardly to say it and too lazy to come up with even a sham reason.
