Santa Clara police shot and killed a man Wednesday morning after responding to a report of a stabbing inside a north Santa Clara home.
Police said they were called to the 1800 block of Eisenhower Drive just after 6 a.m. A caller reported a stabbing inside a residence. Officers arrived, encountered the suspect, and opened fire.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released.
The stabbing victim was also taken to a hospital. Police said the victim is being treated, but they have not released details on their condition.
No officers were injured. Police have not said what prompted the shooting.
The Santa Clara Police Department and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office are conducting a joint investigation. Officials said more information is expected at a Thursday afternoon briefing.
