On December 30, 2022, Santa Clara Councilmember Kevin Park was accused of attempted burglary in an incident at his neighbor’s home.  

Park was not arrested at the time. No criminal charges were filed against Park in 2022 or since then.  

Santa Clara News Online (SCNO) believes the incident is worth reporting because it may be part of a larger story on how the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD)  handles issues involving Park.

The SCPD has refused to release basic information about multiple domestic disturbance calls by his wife to their home starting in 2018. 

Despite clear legal requirements, the City is keeping crucial information requested by SCNO and the San Francisco Chronicle about Park under wraps. 

Santa Clara Police Chief Cory Morgan also ducked basic questions about Park’s domestic disturbance calls and how his department handled the most recent on June 23, 2025. 

(NOTE: SCNO requested information on the recent domestic disturbance call to Park’s home. It’s basic communication related to Park’s cases among City Hall personnel. That was weeks ago. But the City has delayed its response.)

Another major example of the SCPD trying to restrict information related to Park happened in 2021. Assistant Police Chief Wahid Kazem instructed Santa Clara resident Debbie Algieri to destroy reports on two previous domestic disturbance calls involving Park at his home. 

Kazem is publicly known to be friendly with Park. 

In the 2022 incident, SCPD responded to an incident at 898 Pepper Tree Court. A person had passed away from natural causes.

In response to an SCNO request, SCPD released a short report about the December 2022 incident.  Out of respect for family members, SCNO has redacted the name of the person who died.

According to reliable sources, information about Park was revealed during the investigation. It was learned that Park had been accused of attempted burglary at the home. 

Park was not involved in the individual’s death on December 30, 2022.

Park has had well-documented financial problems for many years. 

In 2021, Park’s political consultant, Jay Reed, even asked the 49ers to financially help Park. 

The team had just spent $1 million in independent expenditures to elect Park to the City Council a few months earlier.  Park has become a solid vote for the 49er Five since he was elected in 2020.

Park did not respond to questions about this incident that were sent to his City Hall and personal emails.  If he responds, the story will be updated, or a new story will be written.
