EXCLUSIVE: Kevin Park Contests Late Neighbor’s Will After 2022 Burglary Allegation at the Home

By Robert Haugh

Santa Clara City Councilmember Kevin Park has filed court papers challenging the administration of his late neighbor Russell Wells’ estate, multiple sources told Santa Clara News Online.

Wells’ home was the site of a 2022 incident in which Park was accused of attempted burglary, according to information obtained by SCNO.

The legal move is a new twist in a case that has produced no arrest and no criminal charges.

As SCNO previously reported, Santa Clara Police responded to a call to Wells’ home on Pepper Tree Court on Dec. 30, 2022, after a person died of natural causes.

Wells was not the deceased person in 2022.  Wells passed away this year.

During the investigation, sources said police learned that Park had been accused of attempted burglary at the home. Park was not linked to the person’s death, was not arrested, and prosecutors have not filed charges in the two years since.

The new lawsuit also comes as Park remains under scrutiny in other matters involving the Santa Clara Police Department.

In November, SCPD confirmed Park is under investigation for an alleged court-order violation, but did not disclose the nature of the alleged violation.

Days later, SCNO reported obtaining information through a Public Records Act request indicating Park violated a divorce-related court order.

SCNO has also reported that SCPD has refused to release basic information about domestic disturbance calls to Park’s home.  In a prior case, Assistant Police Chief Wahid Kazem instructed Santa Clara resident Debbie Algieri to destroy reports on two previous domestic disturbance calls involving Park at his home.

Park has not responded to numerous previous questions SCNO sent to his City Hall and personal email addresses. If he responds, this story will be updated.

  1. A1000 an hour McManis is working for courtesy of Mike Honda. Park campaigned as a nental health advocate. I am debating going into all this. Anyone encouraging me?

  2. Can someone tell me why in the world he was re-elected? It is one thing after another with him, none of it ethical, kind, respectable, or moral – and yet he still sits on the Council. This is shameful news – again.

  3. So he is trying to claim that Robert Wells wrote him into his will – or at least TOLD him that he would make him the Executor of the will, in exchange for taking care of him these past few years. Executors of course, get paid for their work and Park needs the money. But the problem is as old as time itself – Wells never actually modified his will.

Hence he broke into the home, after Well’s passing, to attempt and find a copy of the document and got caught for burglary – but didn’t actually steal anything. Now the case remain open for trespassing/fishy behavior that night but it’s not clear that he was actually trespassing given his past relationship with Wells.

    • Peter, Your comment appears to be fiction. There is not one word that could be used to verify that anything you said is true. Is it fiction, speculation, uneducated guess??? There are more facts in the Goblet of fire.

    • Bottom line

Kevin Park is a useless adult child with Nothing to offer Santa Clara.

Kirk Vartan actually addressed the City Council with a solution to the matters involving the Winchester property. Vartan may be opionated, but at least he offers answers.

PARK has opposed an Ethics Committee since the 1990s.

      He offers nothing

    • Park is a desperate little man.
      He needs $$$
      He justifies his “devotion”
      to city council position as
not having a job. Or is it
no one will hire his weirdness.
And now in his desperation to
win in divorce court, he is
taking advantage of a dead man.
Sounds right for sick Kevin Park.
      Deny his requests. Lazy and
      greedy doesn’t win you in
      Court.

    • Ed – weren’t you the one vigorously supporting Anthony Becker as a positive change for Santa Clara? Sorry but you lack credibility here.

      • I was gonna ask the same question why is he contesting a Neighbor’s will! is he a crazy idiot that thinks he can benefit from a neighbor. This guy has got to go
