Santa Clara Councilmember Suds Jain Served Recall Papers for Wasting Millions, Hiding a Crime, and Ignoring Neighborhoods

Editor’s Note:  The following remarks were delivered at last night’s City Council meeting.

By David Kertes

Good evening, Mayor, City Council, and fellow residents.

I come here today with good news for Santa Clara and District 5 residents. This evening Councilmember Suds Jain was served with the notice of intention to circulate a recall petition.

We stand before you today not out of political ambition, but out of necessity, driven by a profound betrayal of trust that demands accountability.

We have witnessed millions of tax dollars squandered on the highest-paid city administration in Santa Clara’s history while our children’s Little League fields were abandoned, our seniors dismissed, and our neighborhoods ignored.

The pattern is undeniable: a Councilmember who publicly advocated leniency for a convicted felon rather than upholding the rule of law, who failed to report serious misconduct allegations in a timely manner, and who opposed the ethics commission recommended by our own Civil Grand Jury.

Empty promises of downtown revitalization have delivered nothing but expense. When Little League families pleaded to save the Westside fields at Haman and Wilson Schools, their voices were ignored. When seniors asked for extended hours at their center, they were dismissed.

Costly schemes to strip away our democratic right to elect our Police Chief and City Clerk have wasted precious public funds.

This recall is about three fundamental values: integrity, accountability, and putting our community first.

We have lost faith in a leader who consistently chooses personal agendas over public service, who dismisses residents’ voices, and who resists the very transparency our democracy demands.

The time for excuses has passed. The time for accountability has come.

We call upon our fellow citizens to join us in restoring a government that truly serves its people—one that protects taxpayer dollars, upholds ethical standards, and remembers that public service is a sacred trust.

Santa Clara deserves leaders who honor that trust and understand they work for us, not the other way around.

The future of transparent, ethical, community-first governance depends on the action we take today.

  1. Where are Suds saviors? Josh Stephens/Elijah aka CSC! Busy
    putting a 49er budget amendment
    together to retaliate?

  2. Jain, park, hardy, Chahal and Gonzalez all need to go! They have been a pain in our community way too long. Jed needs someone to kick him in the butt and tell him to butt out of city business. I’m just waiting for the DA to find something good on him and put him in jail where they all belong.

  3. Can I just say that Kevin Park must go also. I’m tired of that frickin weirdo wearing his mask for years. It makes want to remove the mask.

    • Watch his challenge to the city manager at last night’s meeting regarding an issue regarding power expansion. Park couldn’t grasp the concept that ratepayers won’t be paying for it. He accused the city manager of avoiding the question.

Park thinks he is the smartest person in the room. That kind of rhetoric demoralizes staff and just delays the process. One reason council meetings run so late.

Time to take Smart Boy off the council too.

  4. Suds, how does it feel to have people actually say they don’t want you.

You tried to get rid of the elected police chief and city clerk but it backfired. Now it’s the opposite for you.

It will be money well spent to get rid of you.

  5. Please keep in mind that his “big move” to help downtown was to explore paid parking. A foolish study that no one asked for – ever.

  6. Is this really just a ReCall, or maybe are we going to start to look closer at Mr. Jain’s actions and close associations.
Remember Mr. Jain’s “bestie” is now a Convicted Felon?
When the “Apple falls”, it’s usually never that far from the tree.

Very interested to see how this turns out for Santa Clara.

    Just the Facts Ma’am

  7. Suds could never have gotten elected without greasy 49er political campaigns that got Jain, park, hardy, Chahal and Gonzalez elected. Every voter and child was impacted with lies and inuendo by the sleazy 49er campaigns showing up on their TVs and social media.

It’s time to stand up to bullies. It’s time to bring back trust in our government.

  8. I totally agree with you but let’s all remember that the 49ers are probably recruiting to replace him and anyone else currently on the council that is coming up for reelection/ or terming out. Keep your eyes and ears open for more information on people who are running for office. We need to keep these 49er council members out!

  9. The dominoes are falling one by one. Good work, David. Time for the 49er 5 to cease their ruination of our city. Time for the people to act!

  10. Recall Suds does have a nice ring to it. We need competent people loyal to Santa Clara residents not 49er cash. Then we can get competent city staff that don’t need to build their ’empire’ with expensive people.

  11. worked with Suds in tech. we thought he was a douchebag. got lucky with options. no personality. hates people. hates women.
