The Santa Clara Stadium Authority rejected the 49ers’ request to pay for their new offices outside of the stadium.
The City Council, serving as the Authority, also rejected the team’s request to pay for 24-hour stadium security that the 49ers claim the NFL now requires.
This year’s attempt by the team to shift its $1.7 million office rental cost was first reported by Santa Clara News Online last month.
The Authority’s meeting ran late, past midnight. SCNO will provide additional reporting about the budget that was approved. It contained some good, some bad, and some ugly.

If the NFL requires 24 hr security that should 100% be on the 49er’s and NOT THE TAXPAYERS! So tired of the take take take…… I’m sure they can well afford to pay for the paint job too! hah The City shouldn’t be on the hook for one dime of anything 49er’s regarding the stadium. JMO
