Santa Clara police say a deadly shooting and house fire on Enright Avenue, near the Scott Boulevard and Saratoga Avenue intersection, appear to have been targeted attacks.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026.

According to the Santa Clara Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting and found a man in front of a home suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released.

When officers arrived, they also found a nearby residence actively on fire. Santa Clara firefighters battled the blaze.

Aerial footage from local TV news showed crews spraying water on the badly damaged roof of what appeared to be a single-family home. 

Heavily armed officers were also seen taking cover behind nearby hedges as authorities searched the area for a suspect.

Police said drone footage later helped officers locate a body in the back of the burned home. 

Because of structural damage and other hazards, officers were not able to approach the body until 11 a.m. Saturday.

By Saturday evening, police said detectives believed the incident was targeted and that there was no further threat to public safety.

The motive and circumstances associated to this incident are still under investigation.

Sources close to the residences involved tell Santa Clara News Online that the individuals involved were brothers who had been quarreling over their father’s inheritance amd the family’s home(s). It’s claimed that one of the homes was an AirBnB.

Nearby residents claim to have heard as many as 10 gunshots.

Police have not released the identity of either person found dead.
