The Mission City’s Art and Wine Festival Will be This Weekend

This weekend is our 39th annual Art and Wine Festival. This is something I look forward to every year.

The weather should be good for Mission City residents. Saturday is projected to be warm. Sunday will be cooler. 

Here’s what’s planned:

  • over 165 art and crafts booths with items ranging from fine paintings to toys, jewelry, ceramics, clothing and more;

  • cuisine from over 20 community groups; and

  • live entertainment on three stages.

In the Pavilion, music will be provided by:

  • The Spazmatics, 

  • Cocktail Monkeys, 

  • Daze on the Green, 

  • Funky Latin Orchestra, and 

  • Pop Rocks. 

For children, the Kids Kingdom will have:

  • carnival rides,

  • games, 

  • entertainment, 

  • Kids Crafts Corner and Toddler Town with activities, 

  • music and 

  • Crafts.

Local wineries that will be serving their finest are: 

  • Bargetto Winery & Chaucer’s Cellars, 

  • Emilio Guglielmo Winery, 

  • Fortino Vineyards, 

  • J.Lohr Vineyards & Wines and 

  • Wente Vineyards. 

For football fans, college and NFL games will be on 55-inch screens in the shaded beer garden tent.

More than 50,000 people are expected during the course of the weekend. Admission is free with proceeds from the festival booths benefitting local charities.

Saturday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Central Park, 909 Kiely Blvd., Santa Clara (Street parking and parking lot available)

  1. I believe they not were semi automatic or assault pop guns. It’s sad teachers do not understand the Constitution let alone support it.

  2. A booth was selling wooden cork-popping hand guns and army type rifles, complete with realistic, black sighting scopes.
    As a former SCUSD teacher, my students and I practiced lockdown drills, how to hide, where to and how to run from an active shooter. All doors now have interior door locks, so no one has to open the door in order to be locked against an active shooter.
    I hope they left with their ‘toys’ all unsold. Kids are already scared enough. Whomever chooses/screens vendors, needs to use better judgement, next year.
