Santa Clara City Councilmember Kevin Park Finally Pays Property Taxes

By Robert Haugh

Santa Clara City Councilmember Kevin Park finally paid his property taxes that were delinquent since 2023.  He paid $22,206 on August 19, 2025.

Park publicly touts his financial expertise, but his track record with paying property taxes tells a different story.  This year, he paid $3,615 in penalties for being late.  Wow.

Santa Clara News Online (SCNO) previously reported that his 2024 Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) shows that Park had zero income and zero assets, except for a $1,420 travel gift. His spouse received income from 3 part-time preschool teaching jobs.

Park filed the 2024 annual form nearly 60 days late.

This year, Park filed his Form 700 on time on April 1.

The 2025 report was similar to 2024. He has no income or assets to report. His spouse receives income from 3 part-time preschool teaching jobs. He received the same gift this year as he did in 2024:  $1,420 for travel from the Overseas Korean Foundation.

Park did not respond to questions from SCNO last week asking if he received a loan from any individuals or organizations doing business with the City.

Park is legally required to disclose the source of any loan he receives on his Form 700.

If he received help making the $22,206 property tax payment in August, Park is required to release that information on April 1, 2026 – if he files his report on time.

  1. He paid his taxes. Until you can prove that someone else paid it for him, don’t publish it.
    We need facts, not innuendo.

  2. Watching council mtg. City IT guy was honored and Park wanted to eat the cake. The guy is not a comedian.

  3. Hmm, Robert has done articles on
    Anthony Becker – convicted felon
Kevin Park – multiple police visits to his house for alleged domestic disturbances, not to mention the late property tax payments.
Suds Jain – failed to report a felony committed by another council member. Also, his wonderful proposed parking meter fiasco at Franklin Mall.
Interesting that these are all “people who have served Santa Clara with integrity and integrity ethics according to Ms. Grizzle. 😂
Perhaps Ms. Grizzle can submit a list of those she has a vendetta against and ask Robert to investigate them. Maybe she’d feel better then.

  5. Kevin Park is a leopard.
    Leopards don’t change
    their spots. He’s been
    the same since Day 1
    as a supposed government
    leader. So don’t expect the
    taxes to be paid in
    November. He will continue
    to insult people. He will
    continue to make sure
    council meetings go all night.

  6. I just got an email from LinkedIn: “Down payment help is the new work perk.” Maybe he could find something like that for his next installment of property taxes … 🤣🤣🤣

  7. So, if I read all the messages correctly. He just paid his property taxes. Are they not due in November again? Oh my, let’s see if he pays the November payment that is due on time or not. We could all start betting on this one!!

  8. I don’t see this as a personal attack. I see this as Robert simply reporting the facts. It certainly doesn’t make Kevin Park look good, but that is beside the point.

I am just chuckling though … “Just the facts, ma’am” and “Property taxes are for suckers”; I love it! You cannot say that at least some of the residents of Santa Clara don’t have a sense of humor. 🙂

One thing I looked for: that Kevin Park actually paid the penalties. I’m actually a little surprised he couldn’t schmooze his way out of those, you know, with his “connections” … 😉

  9. “Councilmember Kevin Park has served this community with integrity and thoughtfulness.”

He has never returned my messages and questions submitted about issues in his district.

He has insulted and publicly mocked citizen speakers. He has stifled democracy.

Even though the taxpayers pay him a monthly stipend right on time, he chose not to pay his property taxes for years. He should not be responsible for decisions worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Not a shovel of dirt has been turned yet after all these years for a new downtown. Park has been on the council for years so that is largely on him. There is still no there, there and probably will never be a downtown with Park and the other 49er buddies.

I do admire Park for serving the public, something most won’t do, but he is over his head.

And thank you to Robert for being the lone voice of critical thinking, common sense, and objective reporting.

  10. Anyone who is elected to “Serve the Public”, understands before they are even running for that office understands that they will be held to a much higher standard.
“Conflict of Interest” is real, trust me, anyone living in our City knows that all too well at this point.
So in truth, I really appreciate Mr. Haugh doing what he is doing, seems to be kind of a lone wolf so to speak, here in Santa Clara.
Crazy that San Francisco is now my source for all my Local and National news. That changed at about the same time the 49ers moved their business to Santa Clara.
Just to be real clear here, their name may still say San Francisco, however their address and business offices are located right here in Santa Clara.

    • If you plan on holding him to a higher standard than every single Council person should be held to that same standard. Fact is Robert Haugh cherry picks who to go after.

  11. “Keep your nose out of other people’s personal life “
When you are a public figure, your personal life is always under public scrutiny.
I think we all want ethical and honest people representing us.
If you don’t want the scrutiny, don’t put yourself in a position to be scrutinized.

    • Tsk, tsk, Mary O. Grizzle. The 49er 5 and their fans definitely hold the Mayor and Vice Mayor to higher 49er standards. The accusations and finger pointing are unwarranted except in the eyes of the 49er 5 and their handlers.

P.S. haven’t you said you don’t read SCNO?

  12. Can someone please explain to me how this person even got elected in the first place?
Good Lord, even a 3rd grader understands that if you make $1 a day, you can’t spend $2 a day and not expect it to end well.
I can sense the 49ers knew right away they picked the wrong person early on.
Maybe they should change where they are looking to get prospective reps.
Kind of like the old Bar Joke… “A Two at 10pm is a Ten at 2am”
Regardless of the poor humor, the facts are 0-6.
Now one is even a convicted Felon.
Becker (Convicted Felon), Jain, Park, Hardy, Chahal, Gonzalez and let’s not forget Caserta (Serious Legal manner’s we are not going to talk about).
Wait, how about our former Mayor Jamie Mathews.
Has anyone figured out what happened to him after the last Super Bowl we hosted? Just really a strange chapter in our Cities history.
We can fix this, but it will not be without an uphill battle.

    Just the Facts Ma’am

  13. Legal note: if the source of the income to pay the back taxes was anyone with business before the City Council, Mr. Park is required to declare that he has a conflict of interest and cannot participate in the decision involving the source. In such an instance he cannot wait until April to reveal how he got the money.

  14. I hate to see yet another personal attack published by Robert Haugh, more intent than ever on character assassination. Councilmember Kevin Park has served this community with integrity and thoughtfulness. Late payments don’t erase years of public service or his record of advocating for fiscal transparency.

I have said repeatedly that we need a higher standard of dialogue — one focused on facts, context, and solutions, not sensationalism. Santa Clara residents are tired of smear tactics that divide the community instead of helping it move forward.

My advise to Mr Haugh is to “keep your nose out of others people’s personal life.”

    • I doubt you would feel that way if the report put someone you opposed in a bad light.
