Best and Worst of the Week in Santa Clara: Downtown Precise Plan Moves Forward and the “49er Five” Meet with Team Multiple Times Before Firing City Attorney

By Robert Haugh

The Good — The Leg Drop Award

The City Council approved a framework for the Downtown Precise Plan. A lot of people have worked hard to revitalize our downtown. Kudos to their efforts. But we’re hearing lots of complaints about the look, the heights, and the lack of character. (Downtown Stockton?) So let’s hope the plan improves a lot as things progress.

The Bad — The Jabroni Award:

On their August Council calendars, the “49er Five” had multiple meetings in the weeks leading up to the termination of City Attorney Brian Doyle. That’s obviously a bad look unless you’re politically clueless.
