On Memorial Day, Santa Clara had a power outage that disrupted the holiday of some Mission City residents.
Silicon Valley Power (SVP) reported that the incident occurred when squirrels chewed through an electric cable.
The western part of the city bore the brunt of the outage, impacting approximately 3,840 customers.
After the work of SVP crews, only 143 customers were still without power by midday.
Those residents were expected to have power around midnight.
SVP does a good job of keeping the public updated especially with its Twitter feed.
