INVESTIGATIVE REPORT:  Santa Clara Councilmember Kevin Park Delinquent on 2024 Property Taxes While Touting Financial Record in Campaign

By Robert Haugh

Santa Clara Councilmember Kevin Park is running for re-election and he’s touting his financial record.

According to a review of his property tax records by Santa Clara News Online (SCNO), Park was delinquent on his 2024 property taxes which were due between February and April of this year.

Park also incurred late fees for his last two property tax payments going back to 2023.

Park also incurred late fees in 2018.

In 2020 when he successfully ran for City Council, his publicly available records show no property tax payments.  County officials were not available by SCNO’s deadline to explain why that year is missing or if Park paid.

Park may have had financial problems around 2020.

In 2021, Park’s political consultant Jay Reed sent him an email saying “I didn’t have much luck getting the 49ers to help fund efforts to help you.”

In 2020, the 49ers spent approximately $1 million for an independent expenditure to help get Park elected to the City Council.

Park is not in danger of losing his home – yet. He has to be delinquent for five years before the County will take action.

People who have worked with Park say that he’s had a spotty professional career and frequently changes jobs.

Park also has a reputation for attending charitable events without paying.

In May, SCNO reported that Park attended the Librarypalooza event without paying for himself and two guests.

After SCNO inquiries at City Hall, Park paid but it wasn’t the full amount.

Community leaders started a fundraising effort to pay the Library and other charities that Park may have failed to pay.

  1. Here’s a nugget for you to look into. A mailer recently came out from Park claiming endorsements from former police and fire chiefs. It is unclear where he got the quote from the fire chief from, but he DID not endorse him. Citizens need to know about his lies before they wrongfully vote for him.

  2. Guys…. I’m waiting for Mr. Park to do another “Little Book Show”.
The name of this book will be titled “All my friends are broke”.
I can see Kevin and his buddy Tony chuckling as they are going page by page explaining how Kevin has no friends who are going to slide him even $1 dollar to help cover a very public debt.

    November 5th is coming….
    My ballot is already cast!!!

    By the way,
Today I’m walking again, going door to door meeting residents, all with one goal in mind.
Waking up November 6th, and realized that I’ve got my City back.

  3. Matt, it certainly sounds like Park is qualified as a politician, and I obviously don’t mean that in a positive way.

  4. Kevin Park needs property tax lawyers!

    The 49ers have plenty.

Money from 49er appeal went to elect Park

  5. Park came on the acene at City Hall attacking developers for not paying their share of property taxes.

Now he is represented by Jay Reed, who works for developers.

  6. Yet Park paid Jay Reed 5000 dollars in 2020m. For what? The Mental Health Advocate raised 13000 for 2024. 8100 outside Sants Clara. Park teceives three free trips to Korea from the Korean Foreign Ministry.
